Income Tax Calculator

Income Tax Calculator for salaried individuals for the Financial Year (FY) 2010-11--Assessment Year (AY) 2011-12 is available in Nithyanand Yeswant's website.

It is very useful for calculating Income Tax, Interest (u/s 234 A,B,C) to be paid if the tax amount for a FY is not paid before Mar 31 of that FY. I have been using his calculator for 4 years. You can fill in the maximum amount you can invest and find out how much tax you can save and what is the net tax liability. In most of the companies the last date for submitting proof of investment is Jan 31 or at most Feb 15. Consult with your financial planner / tax consultant and plan your investments.

You can invest upto Rs.20,000 in "Notified Infrastructure Bonds" and claim tax benefit u/s Sec 80 CCF. It is advisable NOT to invest more than Rs.20,000 in these bonds because there is no tax benefit for any amount beyond that. There are better investment options available for any amount over and above Rs.20,000.

After investing Rs.1,00,000 u/s 80C, Rs.20,000 u/s 80CCF, availing tax exemption for home loan interest upto Rs.1,50,000, mediclaim premium u/s 80D, interest for higher education loan u/s 80E, donations u/s 80G and u/s 80DD, 80DDB, 80U and you still want to invest and save tax, call me for an interesting opportunity given by Income Tax Dept to reduce the tax burden but mostly neglected by people due to lack of awareness.

Please do feel free to call / sms me @ 9840846029 for making a financial plan for your family, Human Life Value calculation, Need Analysis, Net Worth calculation, protecting your family through Insurance, services related to Insurance(any company), Mutual Fund investments, servicing & portfolio review / rebalancing, Home/Fire/Motor Vehicle/Personal Accident/Mediclaim Insurance, Tax calculation, IT return filing and IT refund processing.

Our initiative to reduce global warming

Vaazhga VaLamudan!
I hope you would be aware of Exnora India's latest initiative on global warming. They have asked us to do an important task today. Let us continue it further also.

Let us take it little further and from today onwards (08.08.08) from time 08 hrs 08 mins 08 sec in the night, let us swtich off all the electric lights, elelctrical & electronic devices including tv, ac, computers, laptops, kitchen related consumer appliances and most of all our mobiles also for minimum 8 minutes.

We can continue to do this for as many days as we can. Please change the timings in the night to suit your convenience in case you are not in home @ that time.My family has already pledged their support to do this for atleast 1 month.

Little Watts Saved by us make Mega Watts ( MW )
(Let us all do this in addition to the government's forced power cut thats in vogue already)

As mankind we have to failed to harness and utilise the SOLAR power that is available abundantly. It is the only perennial source available but sadly we have not utilised it properly. Let us try to use it atleast from now on.

Please see "Naanayam Vikatan" issue dated July 16 - 31 2008, pages 20-24 for an article on Financial Planning & my photograph on page 23. Will upload a soft copy of the image soon.

When do we need to MOVE?

Dr. Gopalakrishnan succeeds Mr. Ratan Tata as Chairman of Tata Sons Ltd.,the holding company for many of the Tata blue chips like Tata Steel,TataMotors, Tata Power, Tata Chemicals, Voltas etc.

Possibly he is the firstNon - Tata person to head the Tata Empire. Read this article by Dr. G- it is really interesting.

The grass isn't always greener on the other side!! Move from one job to another, but only for the right reasons. It's yet another day at office. As I logged on to the marketing and
advertising sites for the latest updates,as usual, I found the headlines dominated by "who's"
moving from one company to another after a short stint, and I wondered, why are so many people leaving one job for another? Is it passé now to work with just one company for a sufficiently long period? Whenever I ask this question to people who leave a company, the answers I get are:

"Oh, I am getting a 200% hike in salary"; "Well I am jumping three levels in my designation";
"Well they are going to send me abroad in six months".

Then, I look around at all the people who are considered successful today and who have reached
the top - be it a media agency, an advertising agency or a company. I find that most of these
people are the ones who stuck to the company, ground their heels and worked their way to the top. And, as I look around for people who change their jobs constantly, I find they have stagnated at some level, in obscurity. In this absolute ruthless, dynamic and competitive environment, there are still no - short cuts to success or to making money. The only thing that continues to pay, as earlier is loyalty and hard work. Yes, it pays!

Sometimes, immediately, sometimes after a lot of time. But, it does pay. Does this mean that
one should stick to an organization and wait for the golden moment? Of course not. After, a long
stint, there always comes a time for moving in most organisations, but it is important to move
for the right reasons, rather than the superficial ones, like money, designation or oversees
trip. Remember, no company recruits for charity. More often than not, when you are offered an
unseemly hike in salary or designation that is disproportionate to what the company offers it
current employees, there is always an unseemly bait attached. The result? You will, in the long
term have reached the same level or may be lower levels than what you would have in your current company.

A lot of people leave their organisations because they are "unhappy". What is this so called
unhappiness? I have been working for donkey years and there has never been a day when I am not unhappy about something in my work environment - boss, rude colleagues, fussy clients etc.
Unhappiness in a work place, to a large extent, is transient. If you look hard enough, there is
always something to be unhappy about. But, more importantly, do I come to work to be "happy" in the truest sense? If I think hard, the answer is "No". Happiness is something you find with
family, friends, may be a close circle of colleagues who have become friends.

What you come to work for is to earn, build a reputation, satisfy your ambitions, be appreciated
for your work ethics, face challenges and get the job done. So, the next time you are tempeted to move on, as yourself why are you moving and what are you moving into? Some questions are:

  • Am I ready and capable of handling the new responsibility? If yes, whatcould be the possible reasons my current company has not offered me thesame responsibility?
  • Who are the people who currently handle this responsibility in the current and new company? Am I good as the best among them?
  • As the new job offer has a different profile, why have I not given the current company, the option to offer me this profile?
  • Why is the new company offering the new job? Do they want me for myskills, or is that ulterior motive?

An honest answer to these willeventually decide whether you go in your career to the top of the pile in the long term (at the cost of short - term blips) or to become another average employee who gets lost with the time in wilderness.

"DESERVE BEFORE YOU DESIRE"- Dr. Gopalakrishnan, Chairman TATA Sons.

The Power of Positive Thinking

The power of positive thinking

Today I met one person as part of my routine business activity. When he was in his mother's womb as a foetus, she contracted a special type of measles. This affected the foetus also and so he was born deaf. Both the ears were affected to about 80%. As a baby he did not turn his head when any sound was created around him. Crying was the only mode of communication. All the people around him lost their hope except his mom. She believed very strongly that one day her son would be able to hear the words spoken by her.

She continued to speak to him just as how a mother would speak to a normal baby. She made him to observe her lip movements and slowly and steadily he started speaking some of the words. At the age of six he started listening and speaking. Then he was given a hearing aid machine and he started going to school.

He used to sit in the first row and started listening to sound more so by observing the mouth of the teacher and the hearing aid also helped him to improve his listening skill. He completed his post graduation in Bio Tech and is now a Manager in a very reputed pharma company. He still wears a small hearing aid in his ear which has got no wires.

The way he speaks today and the way he listens to what others speak is really great. He is now a very good listener and speaker in the true sense. He is more abled then the average people like us.Had his mother lost hope in him and stopped speaking to him then he would not have become what he is now. It is her sincere, firm and positive belief that has brought him all the success he achieved in his life. This is the power of positive thinking.

One question which came to my mind after speaking to him was ----

  • Am I a good listener ?
  • Is Veera really a good listener ?

Conversation with God

(I got this as a forwarded mail from my friend. Thanks to the person who gave a set of those links as comment. This conversation is in many sites and blogs. Definitely someone would have written this first. To the author of this conversation and the person who gave the anonymous comment ------ Keep up the good work. May the Almighty bless you both with good health, long life, enough wealth, happiness, bliss and peace).

God: Hello. Did you call me?

Me: Called you? No. who is this?

God: This is GOD. I heard your prayers. So I thought I will chat.

Me: I do pray. Just makes me feel good. I am actually busy now. I am in the midst of something.

God: What are you busy at?

Me: Don't know. But I can't find free time. Life has become hectic. It's rush hour all the time.

God: Sure. Activity gets you busy. But productivity gets you results. Activity consumes time. Productivity frees it.

Me: I understand. But I still can’t figure out. By the way, I was not expecting YOU to buzz me on instant messaging chat.

God: Well I wanted to resolve your fight for time, by giving you some clarity. In this net era, I wanted to reach you through the medium you are comfortable with.

Me: Tell me, why has life become complicated now?

God: Stop analyzing life. Just live it. Analysis is what makes it complicated.

Me: why are we then constantly unhappy?

God: Your today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday. You are worrying because you are analyzing. Worrying has become your habit. That's why you are not happy.

Me: But how can we not worry when there is so much uncertainty?

God: Uncertainty is inevitable, but worrying is optional.

Me: But then, there is so much pain due to uncertainty..

God: Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional.

Me: If suffering is optional, why do good people always suffer?

God: Diamond cannot be polished without friction. Gold cannot be purified without fire. Good people go through trials, but don't suffer. With that experience their life become better not bitter.

Me: You mean to say such experience is useful?

God: Yes. In every terms, Experience is a hard teacher. She gives the test first and the lessons afterwards.

Me: But still, why should we go through such tests? Why can’t we be free from problems?

God: Problems are Purposeful Roadblocks Offering Beneficial Lessons (to) Enhance Mental Strength. Inner strength comes from struggle and endurance, not when you are free from problems.

Me: Frankly in the midst of so many problems, we don't know where we are heading..

God: If you look outside you will not know where you are heading. Look inside. Looking outside, you dream. Looking inside, you awaken. Eyes provide sight. Heart provides insight.

Me: Sometimes not succeeding fast seems to hurt more than moving in the right direction. What should I do?

God: Success is a measure as decided by others. Satisfaction is a measure as decided by you. Knowing the road ahead is more satisfying than knowing you rode ahead. You work with the compass. Let others work with the clock.

Me: In tough times, how do you stay motivated?

God: Always look at how far you have come rather than how far you have to go. Always count your blessing, not what you are missing.

Me: What surprises you about people?

God: when they suffer they ask, "why me?" When they prosper, they never ask "Why me" Everyone wishes to have truth on their side, but few want to be on the side of the truth.

Me: Sometimes I ask, who am I? Why am I here? I can’t get the answer.

God: Seek not to find who you are, but to determine who you want to be. Stop looking for a purpose as to why you are here. Create it. Life is not a process of discovery but a process of creation.

Me: How can I get the best out of life?

God: Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear.

Me: One last question. Sometimes I feel my prayers are not answered.

God: There are no unanswered prayers. At times the answer is NO.

Me: Thank you for this wonderful chat. I am so happy to start the New Day with a new sense of inspiration.

God: Well. Keep the faith and drop the fear. Don't believe your doubts and doubt your beliefs. Life is a mystery to solve not a problem to resolve. Trust me. Life is wonderful if you know how to live.

Waiting.....

Waiting

Night is waiting for day.
Day is waiting for night.
Man is waiting for woman.
Woman is waiting for man.
Life is waiting for death.
Death is waiting for life.

Waiting seed becomes a tree.
Waiting makes an unripe fruit ripe.
We all are waiting for someone for some reason.
Life itself is waiting.
We wait for things which we want.
We wait for those for which we have high respect.

People waiting in ration shop are irritated.
People waiting in cinema queue are happy.
Couples who are separated are waiting for the dawn.
Newly wed couples are waiting for the night.
Thieves and sexworkers are also waiting for the night.

Lotus is waiting for the Sun.
Lily is waiting for the Moon.
We all are waiting for our buses.
Except our bus all other buses are coming.
Even if our bus comes it is either over crowded or does not stop.

Devotee: "God, I want to see u. Show up in front of me".
He waited for a long time. God did not come.

Devotee: "Even after praying you have not come. Dont you love me ?"

God: "I came to your home many times. You didnt recognize me."

Devotee: "Iam not able to understand. How come ? It is not at all possible. What are you telling ?"

God: "I came as a beggar. I came as a patient asking for help. But you ignored me. Iam in front of you only as Air, Water, Fire, Light, Darkness, Flower, Birds and Animals. Only you are not able to recognize me. You have drawn a picture of GOD on your own thinking that I would be of this shape only."You cannot contain Me in a single form or shape. All forms are My form only. Since you have designed in one particualr form you are not able to recognize me".

Waiting is a very painful thing. But if you are waiting for your lover then it is nice.

Even after death
my eyes are open.
Coz they have the habit of
waiting for you.

Waiting is nothing but being awake. Waiting means keeping the door open. Waiting means making the fire inside us to burn continuously.

Waiting is a form of meditation. You will definitely get a boon for it.

Thanx for your valuable time and keep waiting......... for more such stuff. Do leave ur views when u go back.

Who is an AchAryA ?

Who is an Aachaaryaa ?

As per the definition in Vedas and Upanishads, an Acharya is one who has written explanation and notes for the sacred book "Brahma Sootra". Only 3 people did that most difficult and daunting task.

1) Kaladi born Aadhi Sankaracharya - Advaita
2) Ramanujacharya - Vishisht Advaita
3) Madhvacharya - Dvaita

No other person who came after them / those in the Kanchi Mutt or for that matter any other mutt were able to comprehend and write explanatory notes for the Brahma Sootra. So only those 3 people can be called as acharyas in the true technical sense. There is no other aachaaryaa among Hindus as of now.

The point is now a days no one reads this Brahma Sootra and the explanatory notes. The contents of these sacred books have not reached the public till now. Will some one do it ?

By the way ladies and gentlement did any of these questions came in ur mind ?

1) Which sacred book of Hindus / God / religious leaders advise people to divide themselves as Brahmanas, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and Shudras?

2) Which sacred book of Hindus / God / religious leaders advise people to subdivide themselves as chettiar, iyer, iyengar, mudaliyaar, naadaar, naidu, nair, pillai, rao, reddy,,,,,,,,, and all the subsects within each of the castes ?

3) Which sacred book of muslims / God / religious leaders advise people to divide themselves as Shiya, Sunni, Shafi? Did Allah or Prophet Muhammad said so to divide all the mulsims based on those names ?

4) Which sacred book of Christians / God / religious leaders advise people to divide themselves as Catholic(Roman, Syrian, Jacobian,,,,,,,,etc), Protestants, Penthacostae ? Did Christ or St.Peter, or St.John or any one else told us to divide christians like this ?

If none of the Gods / religious leaders have told like this to separate ourselves then y the hell are v differentiating people based on so many caste names within a single religion itself.

If Gods have not created these divisions among people within each religion then who the hell has created so many divisions in every religion and y no one raises the above questions 1 - 4

(Especially Hinduism is the worst of all religions today with so many castes and subcastes and sub groups. The concept of "untouchability" can be seen in villages in Tamilnadu even now. )

If Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, Vinyayaka, Muruga, Shakthi, Lakshmi, Allah, Prophet Muhammad, Jesus Christ, Paul, Peter etc have not told us to divide every one like this then why are we following all these caste based differences under each religion ?

Why should we be afraid of this idiotic society which created all these castes among people in all religions, and follow this casteism even in this scientific era ?

A patient who s to be operated --- does he checks whether the doctor is a Cherian(christian) or Siva Kadaatcham(hindu) or Akbar Kausar(muslim) ? Does he checks whether the blood donor is a hindu / muslim / christian? In such situations all these differences are conveniently ignored and all docs are looked upon as Gods who are saviours of life.

So my dear young unmarried ladies and gentlemen --- aadhalinaal kaadhal seyveer --- so start loving. By this process only we can remove all these caste differences and create a new world without religions but love. Let us work for one world, one government, one constitution.

Keep thinking and post ur views. Thanx for ur time. vaazhga vaLamudan!

World peace through Individual Peace

vaazhga vaLamudan!

Thanks in advance for spending ur valuable time to read this blog of mine. This is only the tip of the iceberg. Do not come to any conclusions about me right away.

Am Veera Raj Kumar. Born in Vizhuppuram, Tamilnadu and brought up in Chennai, Tamilnadu, India. I have completed 26 revolutions round the sun. Two important people in my life - coz of whom i visited this yummy planet earth are ammaa(mom) Vanaja and appaa(dad) Saravanan.

Mom is a home maker - a very active person even after going around the sun 51 times. Apart from being the homemaker she also works in Dept of Handlooms & Textiles 10 - 6.

Dad - Again a very active person -- a very good friend of mine -- infact my first best friend -- runs the family in unison with my mom. Also works as an auditor in Tamilnadu Slum Clearance Board 10 - 6. Even after going around the sun 57 times still he s very energetic, fit and trim and without even an inch of flab. Ask him the reason and pat comes the reply ---- cycling. Yes he has been cycling for the past 48 years and still commutes a distance of 6 kms daily from home to mount station.

Brother Arun Kumar - dreamer and achiever -- Has completed 22 revolutions round the sun and was featured once along with his friend in "Namma Ooru vingyaani" program that comes as part of the "vaNakkam tamizhagam" program in Sun TV on fridays @ 07:30 hours

I forgot to inform a very important person in my life who taught me many things. He is my one and only guru Vethathiri. He is fondly called as ThaththuvaGnAni VethAthiri Maharishi by all his disciples. Just click his name and u can catch him online and this is his biography in English and in Tamizh. For tamizh version you need to install the font that is available from the link on the Tamizh homepage.

I did my schooling in Prince Matric Hr. Sec. School in Madipakkam - 12 wonderful years from 1984 - '96. Today we have a yahoo group Prince96 for reuniting the princes and princesses of Prince who passed out in the year '96. After that from 96-2k --- glorious days in my life started in Coimbatore Institute of Technology which is in a lush green atmosphere -- I mean it lush green -- jus diagonally opposite to the Coimbatore Medical College. By the end of 4 years, few medicos also became my friends - one of them is an unforgettable personality Dr.Arul Kumar. Then joined Sterling Infotech Limited, went to iCarnegie Inc, a division of Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA, USA.

About my life @ CIT:

Actual learning in my life started only here in CIT, Coimbatore. Hostel life, living with students coming from different places in TN, varied cultures, my friends, group meditation and lectures given by professors of CIT who were trained by Vethathiri Maharishi helped me a lot. The first lesson that I was taught by my seniors was - "Do not form any group or be a member of group. Be neutral to all groups". I was really appalled to the see the kind of division between the students in an engineering college. The main division being students from Chennai and students from south of Chennai. This is a story which is seen in almost all the colleges - friends from other colleges also told me -- this is the same case every where. But when it comes to conducting a seminar / cultural festival / sports / blood donation / service to poor people through NSS, all of them unite and do it with perfect unison. When countries like South and North Korea unite, and now friendship budding between India and Pakistan, such kind of a division and groupism among a few students disturbed me a lot.

CIT's annual inter college cultural festival - Harmony - is conducted every year and Harmony means iNakkam in tamizh. More info on my life @ CIT will continue later. Hope in the current and comming years atleast let this iNakkam be prevalent among all the people throughout the world. Time to move to official work. Let me sign off with a song by Vethathiri.

“This beautiful world designed by the
Almighty is culturally evolved by innumerable
Generations of people, in the course of millions
Of years. No one has the right to destroy it.
Let us preserve it for our enjoyment and for
Future generations.”
--- Vethathiri

Catch u all l8r. Thanx once again for ur time.
